Role Overview
3s League is seeking a Court Monitor to serve as an on-court coach and mentor for our youth Olympic-style 3x3 basketball league. Court Monitors are assigned to a single half-court and act as a neutral, unbiased coach for both teams, with the primary goal of helping players understand the rules, flow, and strategy of Olympic-style 3x3 basketball while creating a positive, encouraging, and fun environment.
This role is about teaching, guiding and supporting kids, not winning games.
Key Responsibilities
- •Act as the on-court coach for both teams on your assigned half-court
- •Teach and reinforce Olympic-style 3x3 rules, spacing, and basic strategy
- •Help players understand game flow, possessions, and common situations
- •Provide constant encouragement, positivity, and confidence-building feedback
- •Keep games moving smoothly while maintaining a safe, respectful environment
- •Support referees and league staff as needed
- •Serve as a role model for sportsmanship, effort, and teamwork
- •Engage with parents and guardians in a professional and positive manner regarding player development and overall performance, aligned with 3s League values
Qualifications
- •High school varsity basketball experience (minimum required)
- •At least 1 year of youth coaching experience
- •Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and team concepts
- •Energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about basketball
- •Positive, patient, and encouraging communication style with kids
- •Comfortable coaching both teams in a neutral, unbiased manner
- •Reliable, punctual, and professional
Training, Compliance & Safety
- •On-the-job training provided, including league rules, 3x3 format, and game flow
- •Must successfully complete all league-required compliance and child safety training
- •Must pass a background check prior to working games
- •Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all players
