Player Code of Conduct

Our Promise to You

At 3s League, we're committed to creating a positive, safe, and fun environment where every player can grow, learn, and enjoy basketball. This Code of Conduct helps ensure that everyone has the best possible experience in our league.

1. Respect and Sportsmanship

Show Respect for Everyone

• Treat teammates, opponents, referees, and league staff with kindness and respect
• Use positive language and avoid negative comments about others
• Celebrate good plays by both your team and your opponents
• Help teammates improve rather than criticizing mistakes
• Listen to coaches, referees, and league staff

Practice Good Sportsmanship

• Play hard but fair—no cheap shots or dirty plays
• Accept referee calls without arguing or complaining
• Congratulate opponents after every game
• Take both wins and losses with grace
• Encourage teammates when they're struggling

2. Safety First

Personal Safety

• Wear appropriate basketball attire and shoes
• Remove jewelry and any items that could cause injury
• Tell a league staff member immediately if you're injured
• Don't play if you're feeling unwell or injured
• Stay hydrated—bring water to every game

Keeping Others Safe

• Play within the rules to avoid injuring others
• Report any unsafe behavior to league staff
• Help teammates who are injured
• Keep the playing area clean and free of hazards

3. Teamwork and Communication

Be a Great Teammate

• Support your teammates through both good and tough moments
• Share the ball and include everyone in the game
• Communicate positively on the court
• Help newer or less experienced players learn
• Put the team's success ahead of individual statistics

Positive Communication

• Use encouraging words and avoid put-downs
• Ask questions when you don't understand something
• Talk to league staff if you have concerns
• Resolve conflicts peacefully with words, not actions

4. Personal Responsibility

Commitment and Effort

• Show up on time and ready to play
• Give your best effort in every game
• Take responsibility for your actions and mistakes
• Learn from errors and keep improving
• Participate fully in team activities

Character Development

• Be honest in all your interactions
• Show integrity on and off the court
• Stand up for what's right
• Take pride in representing 3s League
• Be a positive role model for younger players

5. Following the Rules

Game Rules

• Learn and follow all 3×3 basketball rules
• Play within the spirit of the game
• Accept referee decisions gracefully
• Ask questions about rules during appropriate times

League Policies

• Follow all facility rules and guidelines
• Respect league equipment and facilities
• Stay in designated areas during games
• Listen to and follow instructions from league staff

6. Prohibited Behaviors

Behaviors That May Result in Warnings or Suspension

• Arguing with referees or league staff
• Poor sportsmanship or unsportsmanlike conduct
• Deliberately breaking league rules
• Disrespecting teammates, opponents, or facilities
• Disrupting games or league activities

7. Consequences

Progressive Discipline

We believe in helping players learn from mistakes. Our typical approach includes:

1. First Warning: Discussion with player about the behavior
2. Second Warning: Parent/guardian notification and improvement plan
3. Suspension: Temporary removal from games or activities
4. Expulsion: Permanent removal from the league (serious violations only)

Serious Violations

Some behaviors are so serious that they may result in immediate suspension or expulsion, regardless of prior warnings. These include safety violations, violence, or any behavior that puts others at risk.

When You Need Support

If you're having trouble following these guidelines or facing challenges, please reach out:

• Talk to any league staff member during games
• Ask your parent or guardian to contact us
• Email us with questions or concerns
• We're here to help you succeed!

9. Reporting Concerns

If you see or experience behavior that violates this code of conduct:

• Tell a league staff member immediately
• Ask your parent or guardian to report the incident
• All reports will be taken seriously and handled confidentially
• You will not be punished for reporting concerns in good faith
